I had the great pleasure of seeing two outstanding programs today that really made the holiday season come alive for me.
The first was of our Finley kindergarten students. I'm always amazed when I see a large group of five and six year olds singing their hearts out for their parents. These students were wonderful with their singing, jingling and air-guitar playing. The long list of Christmas tunes was well received by the packed auditorium crowd of parents, siblings and grandparents, who were proudly watching their little ones perform on the big stage. The teachers of these students are to be greatly praised for their patience, diligence and dedication to our little ones.
This afternoon brought another treat as I witnessed the Holtville Viking Band of Pride perform their Christmas program. With Mr. Macon conducting and Mr. Walker narrating, the band played several Christmas classics and a few that were new to me, and they played them well. In fact, they were outstanding! After the band, the school's a capella group took the stage, wowing the crowd with two wonderful Christmas songs. It's obvious that this group of students is dedicated to doing their best. Well done, Mr. Macon and students!
