Comment: I think a more traditional calendar would be better. Only have Wed., Thurs., and Fri. off for Thanksgiving and instead of two holidays for presidents just have the one. There are too many days off in the year as it is.
I completely agree with you on this. The calendar we sent to the School Board for approval is the calendar that our local Uniserve Office worked out with ICOE so that we could have a more uniform calendar throughout the county. Unfortunately, not all districts are following it, so next year we may be more on our own and can possibly compress the calendar a little bit. I’m planning to survey employees in the fall to see which vacation days are the most important to them. As far as the presidents’ holidays, that’s a quirky requirement of the Education Code.
