Thanks for asking! We have a whole lot of new things going on this year. I'm happy to report that over the summer, our fantastic maintenance and custodial crews worked hard to update and clean the school campuses. They painted both the Finley Cafeteria and the auditorium in addition to completing several small jobs across the district. This summer we had the opportunity to update the Finley cafeteria inside with new paint, ceiling, lighting and flooring. In addition, several classrooms had new ceilings and lighting installed. I hope you get the chance to stop by and see this beautiful renovation.
In addition to the cafeteria, I recently signed a contract for a new wrought-iron fence to be placed around most of Finley School. The fence will be Viking green and will add both security and enhance the school's appearance in a positive way.
We are excited this year that we are able to offer band at the elementary and middle school again. It's been a while since we could offer this and are happy that we were able to hire a fully qualified band leader for these schools. The high school will also be offering a new course this year called "Medical Terminology". This class will give students who are considering going into the health care field a head start on learning the terms used by these professionals.
We have even more exciting things going on this year. Each school will be sending notices out indicating how you can become more involved in our schools. I hope you will join us as we work harder to make sure your child receives an excellent education!
